is laboured ease an oxymoron

Posted by Anonymous on Mon, 06/03/2013 - 11:20
Answer

Yes it is an oxymoron. 'Laboured' means work done with difficulty. Ease is definitely its opposite so laboured ease is an oxymoron.

Is?

Is GIANT DWARF an oxymoron?

Posted by Anonymous on Fri, 03/01/2013 - 06:01
pure evil

"Pure evil" is probably not an oxymoron as 'pure' is used to mean 100%, not untainted. I think an oxymoron is really the use of somewhat contradictory words to add new meaning to expression.

Oxymorons

Some of the earlier ones sounded like they came from George Carlin's comedy. Also, would "hot water heater" be an oxymoron???

Posted by Anonymous on Sun, 01/13/2013 - 20:12
NO

hot water and heater are not opposites

Seriously

Military intelligence is a cheeky joke. It is not an actual oxymoron. Cold as hell seems more like a cross between simily and oxymoron. Burning cold.

WOW

This is very funny. I agree with Jumbo shrimp as an oxymoron.
Just think of two contradictory words and put them together.

Posted by Anonymous on Fri, 09/28/2012 - 00:04
oxymoron

does an oxymoron have to contain two terms literally next to each other? for example, "pretty ugly" those two terms are together. would a phrase be considered an oxymoron if the terms were separated by a few words?

Smoothest Roughness

Is "the smoothest roughness" an oxymoron?

oxymorons

feather of lead
bright smoke
Tears of love

Posted by Anonymous on Wed, 05/23/2012 - 19:42
Little value doesn't seem

Little value doesn't seem like an oxymoron, as value is the term given of something's worth, not something of worth. So in this instance, the word value acts as more of a measurement than an adjective.

What's a better example of an oxymoron is pure evil, as purity and evil are on two different sides of the moral compass, there for exact opposites.

cool oxymoron

this is a cool one: "Its as cold as hell out here!"

Posted by Anonymous on Thu, 02/16/2012 - 03:36
oxymorons

Oxymorons are two oppisite meanings in one word.
Ex:
-bittersweet
-alone together
-living dead
-freezer burn

...i think you get the idea

Posted by Anonymous on Tue, 02/14/2012 - 01:23
It shows two "CONTRADICTING

It shows two "CONTRADICTING WORDS"
Like " bittersweet, act naturally"
Bitter and sweet are opposite words but they somehow just match together. You dont act and acting "naturally" is kinda stupid. But still it makes sense as per the given cntext thus it is an oxymoron.
